TOMS - Gives new shoes to children in need. One for One.

TOMS

We all have seen or heard of the shoe called "TOMS" for those that haven't they are shoe that is based on the traditional Argentine Alpargata. Blake Mycoskie was inspired to go to Argentina in which he was shocked to see the poverty and health conditions that young children were living in especially children who could not afford shoes for their feet. In which he idea was born, Blake Mycoskie revolutionized the traditional shoe Alpargata and brought it back with them to the U.S. During the first year of TOMS, the company had made sold over $10,000 in pairs of shoes.

The reason behind such a successful first year? The commitment behind TOMS is that for each pair of shoes sold another pair of shoes will be given to a child in need.

After their first year Blake Mycoskie  returned to Argentina in which he gave back to all the children who inspired his great idea. Today, TOMS now supplies all in over 50 countries around the world for children who are less fortunate. To learn more about TOMS and what they do check out the link www.toms.ca

6 Customer Loyalty Programs For Your Business

Thinking of starting your own business?
You need to get a foundation of loyal customers who will be by your companies side instead of being lured to your competitors, Here i will tell you 6 customer loyalty programs that might add some value to your company.

1. Points System

Many of you may even have one of these in your wallets right now like an Optimum card from Shoppers Drug mart or even from your local gas station Esso Extra this type of method allows the consumer the more they buy the more points they receive so that when accumulated enough points they get rewarded with a freebies or discounted products.

2. Use some sort of Level System to encourage more purchases

Some customers may believe some rewards are unreachable because maybe to obtain that reward you need a crazy amount of points which will make customer give up and forget their points, to avoid this  use a level system being on the base level (start up) allows you this sum of points on purchases and the more loyal and more purchases the consumer does they get bumped up higher to another level (different card name) For example Costco does excellent job in this as they have different levels of customers (Executive, Gold star, Business).

3.  VIP Fees

The guy beside you spends less then you and gets the same discount and you been shopping there for longer, talk about not being fair. Some companies offer a special fee for those special customers i know sounds weird if your special why pay, but thats thing it "splits the men between the boys" You pay certain price to receive special treatment Amazon shows a great example of this of Amazon Prime when enrolled you receive special privileges like free 2 day shipping on purchases.

4. Not always about money

Yes, everyone likes discounts but sometimes just the thought of purchasing to help the less fortunate is a good enough motivator to buy just as something on sale. Hudson's Bay Company wanted to help Red Cross serval years ago and the way they managed to do so was donating points from when people purchased thing instead of receiving points it would be donated to the Red Cross and today HBC cardholders donate about $50,000 dollars per year.

5. Partner up

Why not share the loot? Partnering up with other companies is great loyalty program for business as it allows both of best worlds for the consumer and for both companies. For example you own a dealership why not partner up with the tuning shop down the street since you are already targeting the car owners and if they need any modifications or such they have some where to go. A widely known company that uses this method is American express.

6.  Have fun with it

Why not make a way for the customer to want to save, one way is to make them have fun with it like some sort of game that allows for them to be involved and to look forward to playing, many of us Canadian folk know that one game we love to play to try and win free stuff.. Tim Hortons Roll up the Rim is a great example as it makes customers look forward not only to their coffee but the chance of winning.

Can you think of any other companies that may fall in these Customer loyalty programs?

THE BICYCLE FACTORY

Eat a chocolate bar build a bike?

Customer loyalty programs are not just about receiving points or discounts to help ourselves but it can also be used to help other needy people around the world as well, How does that work... Me eating a chocolate bar and helping a child in Africa get a bike?

Cadbury shows an amazing way of how a loyal Cadbury customer who enjoys their chocolates or candy by purchasing their product not only satisfies their sweet tooth but also feel like they did a good deed. Cadbury has been doing a program called "Cadbury's Bicycle Factory" for the past five years starting back in 2009. They have sent since 2009 18,000 bicycles to rural Ghana and this year Cadbury is aiming towards another 5000 bicycles.

How it works is that when one customer purchases a Cadbury product it reveals a code in which the person goes to the website www.bicylefactory.ca redeem the code only allowing  only 5 per day.
One product (one code entry) equals one bicycle part and for one whole bike to be made it needs 100 parts. (100 purchased Cadbury products).

This is just one of many customer loyalty programs around in Canada that a consumer by purchasing products from companies, will in return have an impact on some other persons world.

So go out buy that chocolate bar for your sweet tooth and help some child in Ghana for a brand new bicycle.

Any information can be found on their website www.Bicylefactory.ca

Please share your thoughts

Introduction

Hello fellow classmates,

My name is Jason Martins i am 21 years of age i'm a full time student at HMC Sheridan college currently enrolled in the marketing program, my blog if you haven't realized is about customer loyalty programs, Customer loyalty programs is a marketing effort that allows rewards for the consumer who should be rewarded by companies for being "loyal" to their business.

Loyalty programs can be anything from receiving points from purchases to accumulate points then purchase other things for cheaper or free, or just simple VIP access to discounted prices depending on the company that is creating it.

Loyalty programs are ways companies appreciate their loyal customers who are always shop their or like their specific brand and its way that they realize who are the regulars of the companies and that should be treated a little more special then just the average consumer.

i will keep you updated more on customer loyalty programs and what they are all about through out the weeks

Enjoy,
